Mayor Lee Eungwoo Visits National Assembly to Present "Gyeryong’s Next 10 Years" Vision

Request for National Funding Support
to Strengthen the Status of the Defense City,
Expand Metropolitan Transportation Networks,
and Advance Education and Cultural Projects

On September 4, Lee Eungwoo, Mayor of Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province, visited the National Assembly to personally explain 17 major pending projects and request comprehensive support.


The projects cover a wide range of significant initiatives, including attracting public institutions in the defense sector, establishing the Intelligent Sensor Spin-on Support Center, founding the Armed Forces Medical School, creating the Gyeryong Office of Education, constructing the National Military Future Museum and the K-Defense Convention Center, as well as the revival of the former Sindo Station and the opening of new metropolitan roads.

Mayor Lee visited National Assembly member Hwang Myungseon (Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea), Song Kiheon of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the office of Sung Iljong of the National Defense Committee, and the office of Kang Seungkyu of the Industry, Trade, and Energy Committee, among others, emphasizing the necessity of reflecting these projects in the national mid- to long-term plans and securing national funding.

In particular, he highlighted that the reopening of the former Sindo Station, the connection of Gyeryong Junction to the Seoul-Sejong Expressway, the expansion of National Route 1 Gyeryong-daero, and the creation of a transfer center at Gyeryong Station are "key to simultaneously enhancing citizens' quality of life and elevating the city's status as a national strategic city."


Mayor Lee stated, "As these projects align with the new government's national agenda, now is the golden time for Gyeryong City to leap forward," adding, "I will do my utmost to ensure these pending projects are promptly implemented through close cooperation with the National Assembly."
