Held at Rose Park Central Plaza and Along the Osipcheon River
The 2025 Samcheok Donghae King Isabu Festival will welcome citizens and tourists for three days at the Rose Park Central Plaza and along the Osipcheon River.
The festival will begin on the morning of the 5th with the Isabu Memorial Ritual. In the evening, the opening ceremony will feature fusion Korean traditional music and popera performances. A variety of programs will continue on the special stage at Rose Park and throughout the Osipcheon River area, transforming the entire city center into a festive venue.
During the event, the stage will be filled with a youth quiz competition, a children's drawing contest, a national singing contest, a Taekwondo demonstration by the K-TIGERS, the creative play "Paengpajeon," and busking performances. There will also be a wide range of programs for families, including the KidZania children's job experience, the "Isabu Summer Playground" with water play facilities, and a wooden lion reenactment performance. In particular, the "Moon Boat Night Experience," which lights up the Osipcheon River, is expected to be a festival highlight.
The 120-meter-long floating bridge installed over the Osipcheon River will also attract visitors' attention. Connecting Rose Park with the opposite bank, the floating bridge serves as a leisurely walkway during the day and transforms into a special illuminated path for enjoying the night view after dark. Walking directly over the river to travel between both event venues is another unique experience available only during the festival.
The festival also offers a wealth of food and entertainment. At the Samcheok Local Food Festa, visitors can sample a variety of dishes made with local ingredients and discover new recipes. The flea market features local products and handicrafts, while the food truck zone offers convenient snacks for all ages, adding to the festival's enjoyment.
Meanwhile, ahead of the festival, the Isabu General Memorial Ritual and Water-Land Ceremony were held on September 2 at the Yukhyangsan Plaza in front of the Isabu Dokdo Memorial Hall, honoring the achievements of General Isabu and reaffirming the commitment to protect Dokdo.
