This event is co-hosted by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and Hoengseong County, organized by the Gangwon Technopark Foundation, and will feature participation from a total of 34 universities, companies, and organizations.
Under the theme 'The Future of Mobility Becomes Reality in Hoengseong,' the festival will offer a variety of content across three main themes: a special exhibition hall introducing future vehicle industry policies and infrastructure in Gangwon and Hoengseong, a new electric vehicle (EV) showcase, and a future industry exhibition hall featuring autonomous vehicles, drones, robots, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI).
The festival will display major finished vehicles such as the Hyundai Ioniq series, Kia EV models, BYD electric vehicles, and the DPECO Portro, as well as advanced mobility technologies including autonomous tractors and medical electric scooters. Hands-on programs are also planned, such as autonomous bus test rides, drone soccer experiences, and a national mini car racing competition.
Kangwon Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Kim Gwangrae stated, "Alongside Hoengseong Hanwoo, which has traditionally represented Hoengseong, 'future vehicles' have now become a new symbol. Through this event, we will continue to provide support so that Hoengseong can solidify its position as a hub city for the future mobility industry in Gangwon."
Meanwhile, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province will operate a promotional booth at 'Auto Salon Tech Korea 2025,' which will be held at KINTEX from September 19 to 21, to showcase the infrastructure and strengths of Gangwon's future vehicle industry to domestic and international companies and continue efforts to attract outstanding businesses.
Additionally, to foster the future vehicle industry ecosystem, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province has secured four national strategic projects supporting 12 research and demonstration infrastructures. The province is building a cluster centered around Wonju and Hoengseong. In the three years since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the province has completed or finished three projects and secured seven new projects (with a total project cost of 104.8 billion won).
By completing five infrastructures by 2025 and four more by 2026, Gangwon aims to establish a comprehensive support ecosystem for the entire future vehicle lifecycle, spanning core component development, full-vehicle testing and evaluation, and integrated autonomous driving demonstrations. This will drive business expansion, job creation, and industry scaling up.
