Hanyang University announced on the 3rd that it held a symposium to commemorate the establishment of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at its Graduate School.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Graduate School of Hanyang University, established earlier this year, aims to cultivate practical and interdisciplinary talent for the space industry, which has emerged as a key area of national competitiveness.
The symposium was held on the 26th of last month at the Faculty Lounge on the 4th floor of the Student Welfare Center at the ERICA campus. Government agencies, government-funded research institutes, academia, and industry gathered to discuss ways to collaborate and to establish Hanyang University's unique aerospace engineering brand.
The event was attended by key figures, including Baek Donghyun, Vice President of the ERICA campus; Choi Seungcheol, Director of Cultural Talent Development at the Korea Aerospace Administration; Yoo Changkyung, President of the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences; and Han Youngmin, President of the Korean Society of Propulsion Engineers, who delivered congratulatory remarks. Lee Sangcheol, President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, presented the vision and development direction of the domestic space industry in his keynote speech.
Discussions on cooperation with private companies also took place. Invited speakers included Lee Junwon, Head of the Space Business Division at Hanwha Aerospace; Cho Younghoon, Member of the Space Team at the Future Technology Development Center of Korean Air; and Shin Dongyun, CEO of Perigee Aerospace, who shared the current status of technological development in the private space industry and possibilities for collaboration.
Vice President Baek stated, "The impact is expected to be significant, as ERICA is actively designing a structure where technology, talent, and industry converge."
Meanwhile, after the symposium, faculty members of the Department of Aerospace Engineering conducted a lab tour to introduce their research laboratories.
