Building a Comprehensive Care Safety Net
for Seniors in Miryang
Miryang City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on September 3 that it will fully launch the "Miryang-Style Hope Sharing Integrated Care Project," aiming to establish a comprehensive care safety net for seniors who have been left in the blind spots of the care system.
This project focuses on addressing care gaps that have previously gone unsupported by providing customized services to seniors aged 65 and older who are in the care blind spots, in connection with existing care services.
In the first half of this year, Miryang City distributed 300 health medicine calendars and provided nutritional supplements to 64 households, offering care services to promote the health of seniors.
In the second half of the year, the city plans to further expand and strengthen the project by selecting the Miryang City Comprehensive Social Welfare Center as the implementing agency. The city will reinforce daily care through meal support and regular check-ins, and provide psychological support services to help ensure the mental well-being of seniors.
Additionally, Miryang City will create a comfortable and safe living environment by operating a clean bus, improving residential environments, and enhancing safety facilities. Through the mobile integrated care bus, the city will offer a range of services and connections to provide tailored support.
Seniors in need of care can receive detailed information and apply through the care support desks at their local town, township, or neighborhood offices.
Ryu Jinsul, head of the Department of Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities, stated, "Through the Miryang-Style Hope Sharing Integrated Care Project, we will proactively address care blind spots and systematically provide essential services to seniors, further strengthening community-based care."
