A national natural recreation forest has been established in Geumsan County, South Chungcheong Province, and is now officially in operation.
The Korea Forest Service announced on September 3 that it held the opening ceremony for the National Geumsan Natural Recreation Forest. This forest was developed over four years beginning in 2021, with a total project cost of approximately 12 billion won. The purpose of its establishment is to provide a space for relaxation and healing within the Daejeon and Chungcheong metropolitan area.

The Geumsan Natural Recreation Forest is equipped with 13 rooms in 13 forest cabins, 10 rooms in 5 townhouse buildings, a visitor information center, and other facilities. In addition, it offers a parking lot with a total of 60 spaces, including designated parking for people with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can conveniently and comfortably enjoy the benefits of forest recreation.
In particular, the interior of the recreational facilities is furnished with furniture made from domestic wood, allowing visitors to relax in a warm and welcoming atmosphere close to nature. The forest is also characterized by its use of renewable energy for facility operations, such as wood pellet boiler heating, solar-powered streetlights, and modular houses, which have been designed to help reduce costs.
Reservations and use of the Geumsan Natural Recreation Forest are available through the integrated reservation system for natural recreation forests, "Supnadel-e."
Kim Inho, Commissioner of the Korea Forest Service, stated, "I hope that the Geumsan Natural Recreation Forest will become a central hub for forest recreation in the central region," adding, "The Korea Forest Service will continue to create additional forest recreation spaces to provide the best possible forest recreation services to the public and contribute to regional development."
