"Jeon Hangil is a Result of the People Power Party's Current Reality"
"Only Far-Right Members Remain in the People Power Party"
"Mass Departures After Lee Junseok's Exit and Yoon's Impeachment"
Writer Yoo Si-min dismissed any connection between the Liberation Day special pardon of Cho Kuk, head of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party's Institute for Innovative Policy, and the decline in President Lee Jaemyung's approval ratings. He also mentioned that Assemblyman Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party left the People Power Party, and after former President Yoon Sukyeol was impeached following the declaration of martial law, many party members left as well, leaving only those with far-right tendencies in the People Power Party.
On August 31, Yoo Si-min stated on his YouTube channel "Yoo Si-min's Fishing Academy," "They say the approval ratings dropped because of Cho Kuk's pardon, but that's not the case. The core members of the People Power Party have become too accustomed to giving false answers in ARS (automated response surveys)," explaining his view.
Yoo said, "A man in his 60s selects the 20s age group when responding. Because of this, the survey results for those in their 20s and 30s are skewed, making it appear as if President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating is dropping." He added, "What reporters call the convention effect refers to a situation where extensive media coverage and public interest actually lead to a rise in approval ratings. That's a different theory. This is just a scheme."
"Jeon Hangil did not create the current People Power Party... It is the result of the party's current reality"
He also commented on the internal split within the People Power Party between supporters and opponents of former President Yoon Sukyeol's impeachment, and shared his thoughts on the influence of Jeon Hangil, a former Korean history lecturer.
Yoo Si-min said, "Jeon Hangil did not make the party this way. The phenomenon of Jeon Hangil emerged as a symptom of what the party has become," and continued, "If it were a normal conservative party, they would say, 'We didn't elect a president to carry out a coup,' expel Yoon Sukyeol, vote for impeachment, issue an apology, and return to being a proper conservative party. What they're doing now is laughable. It almost seems like they've lost their minds," he remarked.
Only far-right members remain in the People Power Party... Mass departures after Lee Junseok's exit and Yoon's impeachment
He further asserted that, due to recent major incidents, only those with far-right tendencies remain within the People Power Party.
Yoo said, "In the People Power Party convention, only about 45% of party members voted. Many members already left when Lee Junseok quit, and even more left after Yoon Sukyeol carried out a coup and was impeached," adding, "This time, voter turnout was even lower than when Han Ducksoo's candidacy was blocked. The party's base has collapsed, leaving only those with far-right tendencies," he analyzed.
