Free Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations
for Children, Pregnant Women, Seniors,

Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will provide free vaccinations for influenza (flu) and COVID-19 during the 2025-2026 season to vulnerable groups to prevent respiratory infections in winter.

According to the city on September 3, this vaccination program targets children with weak immune systems, pregnant women, the elderly, and socially vulnerable groups. The timing and location of vaccinations will vary by eligibility, so prior confirmation is required.

For flu vaccinations, children aged 6 months to 13 years who require two doses can receive their first dose at designated (contracted) medical institutions starting September 22. Children and pregnant women who need only one dose can be vaccinated from September 29 at designated medical institutions.

Flu vaccinations for seniors will be administered sequentially by age group: those aged 75 and older from October 15, those aged 70 to 74 from October 20, and those aged 65 to 69 from October 22. Vaccinations will be available at nearby designated medical institutions.

In addition, vulnerable groups, including basic livelihood security recipients among Iksan citizens aged 14 to 64, national merit recipients, people with severe disabilities (formerly grades 1 to 3), and residents of social welfare facilities, will be able to receive vaccinations at 40 public health centers in Iksan starting October 24.

COVID-19 vaccinations will be provided to immunocompromised individuals and residents of infection-prone facilities (aged 6 months to 64 years), with vaccinations available at designated medical institutions starting October 15.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations can be administered simultaneously, and to ensure smooth and safe vaccination, the program will be carried out sequentially until April 30, 2026.

National influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations can be received at designated medical institutions nationwide, regardless of address. However, vulnerable groups among Iksan citizens can only be vaccinated at the city's public health centers.

The city is urging people to contact designated medical institutions in advance before visiting, to ensure proper vaccine supply and manage the number of people being vaccinated. In addition, eligible recipients must bring identification and relevant documents, such as a maternity handbook or pregnancy certificate, according to their eligibility.

Lee Jinyun, Director of the Iksan City Public Health Center, said, "Since there is a high possibility of a simultaneous outbreak of flu and COVID-19, we strongly encourage all citizens to actively participate in the vaccination program according to the schedule."

Information about vaccination centers can be found on the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Immunization Helper website or in the notices section of the Iksan City Public Health Center website.
