Seongnam Unveils Vision for "Ori Station Area 4th Technovalley" to Lead the Next Century
Eight MOUs Signed with Major Institutions Including Hana Bank and Mirae Asset
Hyundai Motor Group and HFR Join as Advisory Partners
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sangjin) is set to officially launch the development of the "Ori Station Area 4th Technovalley," a core project to lead the city into the next 100 years.

On September 3, Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin presented the development plan and vision in person at the "4th Technovalley Vision Proclamation Ceremony" held at the Agricultural and Marine Products Distribution Center in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu, expressing a strong commitment to transforming Seongnam into a global innovation city.
Mayor Shin emphasized, "This vision proclamation is not simply a development project, but the starting point of innovation to prepare for Seongnam's next 100 years," adding, "We will foster an open innovation ecosystem involving citizens, businesses, and experts, and turn Seongnam into a globally recognized hub of innovation."
He further stated, "Through the 4th Technovalley project, we expect to create more than 100,000 quality jobs and generate approximately 220 trillion won in economic revenue. By securing another growth engine following the success of Pangyo Technovalley, we will present a sustainable model for a future city."

At the event, eight major companies and financial institutions-including Hana Bank, Mirae Asset, LG CNS, Eugene Group, Koramco Asset Management, IGIS X, Aribio, and the Korea Fabless Association-signed mutual cooperation MOUs with Seongnam City. In addition, the Hyundai Motor Group-Smart City Association consortium and HFR, which joined as a private advisory group in May, also pledged to cooperate with the city.
Notably, Tom Murphy, former mayor of Pittsburgh and a globally renowned urban innovator, was officially appointed as the Honorary Chief Planner of the 4th Technovalley at the ceremony. In his congratulatory speech, former Mayor Murphy encouraged Seongnam City in its new challenge and highly praised its potential for growth as a global innovation city.
Seongnam City plans to designate the urban innovation zone and finalize the development plan in 2026, thereby accelerating private sector participation. In 2027, the city will begin infrastructure construction and attract major anchor institutions. By 2030, the first phase of development is expected to be completed and operational, marking the full-scale launch of the 4th Technovalley.

Meanwhile, at 10 a.m. on September 4, the day after the vision proclamation, Tom Murphy, Honorary Chief Planner, will deliver a special lecture at Hannuri Hall in Seongnam City Hall on "Urban Innovation and Success Stories of Pittsburgh." This lecture is expected to provide broad insights into the future direction of Seongnam City by sharing global experience and strategies to support the successful implementation of the 4th Technovalley.
