Hwaseong City Holds Various Events for Gender Equality Week

Campaigns, Education for Migrant Youth, and Family Policy Forum

Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is holding a variety of commemorative events to improve social awareness in celebration of Gender Equality Week.

Until the 7th, the city will conduct the "Equality in Diversity: Gender Equality Week Cultural Diversity Campaign" together with foreign residents at the Foreign Residents Welfare Center.

On the 3rd, the Hwaseong City Family Center will host a "Making Traditional Korean Kimchi for Marriage Immigrant Families" event, and on the 3rd and 4th, the Hwaseong Global Youth Center will offer "Gender Equality Education for Youth with Migrant Backgrounds."

On the 5th, "Gender Sensitivity Training" will be held at the City Hall Grand Auditorium, and the "Hwaseong Family Policy Forum" will take place at the Purmir Hotel. On the 3rd and 6th, the "Hwaseong Family Happiness School Father’s Class" will be held at the Hwaseong City Family Center, and on the 7th, the "Diversity Olympics for Youth with Migrant Backgrounds" will be held at the Bongdam 2 District Multipurpose Gymnasium.

Previously, on the 2nd, the city held a Gender Equality Week commemorative ceremony under the theme "A City Where Everyone is Equal, Shining Hwaseong" at the U&U Center Hwaseong Art Hall. The event was attended by Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun, Chairman Bae Jeongsu of the Hwaseong City Council, members of nine local women’s organizations, and about 500 citizens.

Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun stated, "Gender equality takes root in our society only when we respect each other's differences and share responsibilities and roles within the family," adding, "The city will work together with citizens to establish institutional and cultural foundations for this."
