Providing Customized Jobs and Educational Programs
On September 3, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will begin temporary operations of the "Siheung Northern Middle-aged Center," located at 465-4 Daeya-dong, Siheung, Gyeonggi Province, starting from September 15.
This temporary operation has been launched to provide early support for employment and increased social participation among the middle-aged population, ahead of the official opening of the center in the first half of next year.
The center will offer a range of services for middle-aged residents, including life counseling, career development, and employment support, as well as opportunities for social contribution and community activities. Through these initiatives, the city aims to boost local vitality and address the growing difficulties in job seeking and recruitment caused by the economic downturn and U.S.-imposed tariff policies.
The center will run a total of six educational programs, including life planning courses, short-form creator training, smartphone instructor training, pharmacy office staff training, and wallpaper technician certification. These programs are designed to strengthen the job skills of the middle-aged, and the center will also provide tailored job placement services through job matching support.
The center is open to Siheung residents aged 40 to 64. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Applications for educational programs must be submitted in person at the center, and all courses are free of charge.
