Securing the Highest Level of Audit Expertise in Korea
The Audit Office of the Government Employees Pension Service announced on September 3 that two employees have simultaneously obtained the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification.
The Certified Internal Auditor is the world’s highest and only professional qualification in internal auditing, administered by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). It requires comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in areas such as accounting, finance, management, and risk management.
The latest recipients of the qualification are Jung Youngmin, Acting Standing Auditor, and Ahn Kwangmin, Deputy Director of Audit. After obtaining the qualification in July, Acting Auditor Jung actively shared his exam experience, which helped Deputy Director Ahn achieve success as well.
With their achievement, the total number of employees at the organization holding international audit certifications has increased to four, representing 31% of the total staff of 13. The Audit Office stated that this milestone will accelerate efforts to: secure world-class audit expertise; advance digital audit techniques; and establish a leading audit system based on ethics and independence.
Jung Youngmin, Acting Standing Auditor, emphasized, "Obtaining the CIA qualification will serve as an important foundation for the Audit Office to achieve international-level audit expertise. We will continue to foster professional audit personnel and introduce innovative audit techniques to become a trusted organization for the public."
