Seocho District Slashes Bus Shelter Advertising Fees for Small Businesses to 3,000 Won per Day

Business Agreement with JC Deco Korea to Revitalize the Local Economy

Seocho District in Seoul (Mayor Seongsoo Jeon) has significantly reduced the digital advertising rates for bus shelters to support small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn. The new rates are approximately 3,000 won per day and 100,000 won per month.

On September 2, the district signed a business agreement with JC Deco Korea Co., Ltd., a global outdoor advertising company, to allow small business owners to use 14 digital billboards installed at 7 village bus stops in the area at affordable prices.

The supported bus stops are seven key locations with high foot traffic and vehicle volume, including Seoul Arts Center, Gangnam Station, Sinnonhyeon Station, and Nonhyeon Station. The billboards, equipped with top-tier LCD panels installed in July, will display image advertisements up to 15 seconds long, repeating more than 138 times per month for 23 hours each day. The power is automatically turned off from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. to reduce carbon emissions.

Small business owners in Seocho District can run advertisements for 100,000 won per month. If they have difficulty producing promotional materials, the district will connect them with specialized companies that can create them at reasonable costs. Applications can be made via email to JC Deco Korea (Contact.seocho@jcdecaux.com), and submitting a certificate proving small business status will grant a discount on the fee.

Previously, Seocho District received a positive response by lowering the digital billboard advertising rate for local small businesses by 80% to 10,000 won for 10 days (1,000 won per day). Additionally, Seocho is the only district in Seoul selected for the "2025 Youth Participation Outdoor Advertising Design Project" and is currently developing signboard designs with the participation of residents and students.

Mayor Seongsoo Jeon stated, "We pursued this business agreement in hopes of providing real support to small business owners facing difficulties due to the economic downturn. I hope many merchants take advantage of this valuable opportunity to promote their stores at a low cost, revitalizing the local commercial district."
