According to the National Assembly on September 3, Lee resigned from the Legislation and Judiciary Committee the previous afternoon and was confirmed to be reassigned to the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. Choi, who had been a member of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, will move to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee to take over Lee's position.

The final decision regarding committee assignments for independent lawmakers is made by the Speaker of the National Assembly. An official from the Speaker's office stated, "The Speaker approved this in the afternoon of the previous day," adding, "The intentions of the individuals involved were confirmed." When asked whether he would attend the full session of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 4th, Choi replied, "Since the decision was made yesterday, I will join immediately."

Initially, the Democratic Party requested that Lee's committee seat be filled by a Democratic Party member, but the People Power Party opposed this, arguing that it was an issue related to the original composition of the committees. Currently, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee consists of nine members from the Democratic Party, seven from the People Power Party, and two from minor negotiation groups.

Meanwhile, Lee was elected as the chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee as a member of the Democratic Party on June 27. However, after allegations of stock trading under borrowed names surfaced, he voluntarily left the party and stepped down as committee chair on August 5.
