According to Kyodo News and NHK on September 2, the man attacked the woman with a weapon the previous day and fled the scene, but was apprehended at Terminal 3 of Haneda Airport. Kyodo News reported that bloodstains were found on Park's clothing.

The previous day, in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, the woman, referred to as A, was found collapsed and bleeding on the side of the street. She was transported to a hospital but died. At the time of discovery, she had what appeared to be stab wounds on her neck.

A, who lived in Minato Ward, Tokyo, worked in the clothing industry. She was reportedly attacked after stepping outside a photo studio for a short break.

The two met in October last year through a Japanese language learning application and began dating in April this year. Park entered Japan on August 23 and stayed at the victim's residence.

However, on August 29, the victim reported to the police, saying, "When I told my partner from Korea that I wanted to break up at a restaurant, he became angry and returned home. A few days ago, he was also violent."

In response, Japanese police verbally warned Park not to approach the woman and advised A to seek shelter. Police accompanied Park to Tokyo Station after he said he would visit Osaka before returning to Korea, and confirmed that he boarded the Shinkansen high-speed train.

However, the following day, August 30, Park returned to the victim's residence. According to Yomiuri, police even accompanied Park to Narita Airport and watched him go through departure procedures, but it appears he did not leave the country.

Japanese police have released Park's personal information, including his name and age. His address and occupation have not been confirmed. Japanese media outlets such as ANN News and TBS have aired footage of Park being escorted by police at Haneda Airport without any mosaic to obscure his face.

Park is reportedly remaining silent regarding the charges. Japanese police are continuing to investigate the details of the incident.
