[2026 Early Admission] Samyook University to Select 100% through 'Short-Answer Essay' Track

Essay Excellence Track Open to All Departments
Except for Pharmacy, Theology, and Arts & Physical Education

Samyook University will admit a total of 825 students for the 2026 academic year through 24 different departments in its early admission process.

The most notable track in this year's early admission is undoubtedly the Essay Excellence Track. This track will admit 154 students, an increase of 27 compared to last year. Applicants can apply to all departments except for Pharmacy, Theology, and Arts & Physical Education. Notably, starting this year, only the essay test score will be considered, with no reflection of high school academic records. The minimum requirement for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) is a grade 3 in any one subject among Korean, English, Mathematics, or one subject from Social/Science Inquiry, which makes the criteria less burdensome. Meeting the requirement with just one inquiry subject is also possible.

Another major advantage for applicants is that the essay test is in the 'short-answer essay' format. Although there are more questions than traditional language or math essays, each question is relatively simple and requires a shorter response, reducing the burden on students.

Samyook University bases its questions on EBS CSAT-linked textbooks, setting the difficulty at the level of descriptive and essay-type questions from the regular high school curriculum. Any student who has thoroughly prepared for the high school curriculum and the CSAT is encouraged to apply.

The essay test consists of 15 questions to be answered in 80 minutes. Applicants for humanities departments will receive 9 Korean questions and 6 mathematics questions, while applicants for science departments will receive 6 Korean questions and 9 mathematics questions. Each question is worth 10 points.

The Seum Talent Track (Comprehensive Track) will admit the largest number of students this year, with 240 spots available. In the first stage, four times the number of available spots are selected based on a 100% document review, and in the second stage, 60% of the first stage score is combined with 40% from the interview. The minimum CSAT requirement for the Seum Talent Track applies only to the Pharmacy department, where applicants must achieve a combined total of grade 5 or better in three areas among Korean, English, Mathematics (Calculus or Geometry), and one subject from Science Inquiry.

The School Principal's Recommendation Track, which is a curriculum-based track, will admit 102 students. This track selects students based solely on 100% of their high school academic records from the first semester of grade 10 to the first semester of grade 12, with no differentiation by year. For the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Art & Design, practical skills scores are also considered. The Department of Physical Education combines 40% from academic records and 60% from practical skills, while the Department of Art & Design combines 20% from academic records and 80% from practical skills. The Pharmacy department will admit 16 students through early admission this year.
