The bottled water provided this time will be distributed first to water-vulnerable areas through Gangneung City Hall.
Due to a drought that has continued since April, Gangneung City entered the 'severe drought' stage as of August 29. The following day, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety declared a disaster situation in the area. In response, a pan-government on-site support team is now operating, and local governments and organizations from across the country are providing water supply resources.
Jeong Myeonggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "Hwaseong City will support Gangneung citizens in the spirit of solidarity and mutual prosperity," adding, "I hope this support will provide at least some relief to the difficulties faced by the people of Gangneung."
The city also plans to continue seeking various solidarity measures to cooperate and respond jointly with regions experiencing difficulties due to natural disasters.
