Anticipation for a Unified Economic and Living Zone and the Fostering of Advanced Industrial Belts
Choi Byungyong, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Yeosu 5), has been appointed as a member of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Super Metropolitan Area Planning Committee.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly on September 2, Assemblyman Choi was the only representative from the eastern region of Jeonnam to be named to the committee as a local assembly member during the committee meeting held at Gwangju City Hall on September 1.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Super Metropolitan Area Planning Committee was formed to discuss the mid- to long-term development strategies of the two cities and provinces in line with the government's balanced growth strategy, "Five Axes and Three Special Zones." The committee consists of 30 members in total, with 15 each from academia, industry, and policy experts.
This plan is being established as a statutory plan and will be reflected in the government's "5th Comprehensive National Territorial Plan Amendment." As a result, joint projects such as establishing a unified economic and living zone through the expansion of metropolitan transportation networks and fostering industrial belts connecting future high-tech industry hubs are expected to gain momentum.
Assemblyman Choi stated, "It is an honor to participate in the process of establishing a super metropolitan area plan for the mutual development of Gwangju and Jeonnam," adding, "As the only representative appointed from the eastern region of Jeonnam, I will do my utmost for the development of Yeosu and the surrounding areas."
