The Disney+ original series "Polaris," starring Jun Jihyun and Kang Dongwon, will premiere on September 10. The series has attracted attention since its production phase due to the participation of Korea's top production team and cast. The directing team includes producer Kim Heewon, known for the dramas "Queen of Tears" and "Little Women," and director Heo Myunghaeng, who worked on the film "The Roundup: Punishment." The script was written by Chung Seokyung, who previously wrote the screenplays for films such as "Decision to Leave," "The Handmaiden," and "Thirst."

At the production presentation held on September 2 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Jun Jihyun said, "I was eager to join because it was a project by producer Kim Heewon and writer Chung Seokyung. I also wanted to work with Kang Dongwon before it was too late." Kang Dongwon added, "For some reason, I had not had the chance to work with Jun Jihyun until now, so I was happy to finally collaborate with her on this project."

Jun Jihyun plays Seomunju, a former UN ambassador who is now a presidential candidate. She is a politician with ideals who faces a variety of threats. Kang Dongwon plays Sanho, a special agent from a mercenary company who protects Seomunju with impressive action scenes. Kang Dongwon explained, "At first, the action is cold, but as the story progresses, you can feel the emotions behind Sanho's desire to protect Seomunju." Jun Jihyun commented, "As various situations unfolded, I was able to showcase many different sides of myself."

The supporting cast is also impressive. Hollywood actor John Cho joins Kim Haesook, Lee Misook, Park Haejoon, Yoo Jaemyung, Oh Jungse, Lee Sanghee, and Joo Jonghyuk. Kim Haesook plays Chae Kyungshin, a female president; Park Haejoon portrays Jang Junik, a candidate for the next presidential election; and Lee Misook takes on the role of Lim Okseon, the chairwoman of the country's largest shipping company. Kim Haesook said, "I wanted to portray a charismatic president who also feels human. The writer created a wonderful presidential character." Yoo Jaemyung, who plays the director of the National Intelligence Service, remarked, "The moment I read the script, an unimaginable world unfolded before me. Writer Chung Seokyung is like Shakespeare."
