On September 2, the city of Gyeongsan (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced that it will inject new vitality into economic recovery and the stabilization of citizens' livelihoods by discovering and implementing a variety of new policy initiatives that add dynamism and vibrancy to key areas of municipal administration.
On September 1, the city held the "2026 100°C Citizen Experience Policy Briefing Session" at the auditorium of the Imdang Relics Exhibition Hall, presided over by Mayor Cho Hyunil, with the participation of bureau, division, and headquarters chiefs, as well as department heads.
This briefing session focused on overcoming the difficulties faced by the local economy due to the sluggish domestic market and on generating tangible results in the latter half of the 8th popularly elected administration through the discovery of new policy initiatives that citizens can truly feel. A total of 58 policy items were discussed, including reviews of their feasibility and effective implementation strategies.
Key projects identified include: character marketing for Byeolnan Baekgomi to establish urban identity, development of the Gyeongsan font, streamlining administrative procedures and providing convenience for civil complaints, implementation of a smart notification talk service, operation of a citizen satisfaction permit and approval service, strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and protecting workers' rights, supporting the creation of safe work environments to prevent industrial accidents, establishing rest stations for mobile workers, supporting those in welfare and safety blind spots, assistance programs for climate crisis-vulnerable groups, operation of a park golf course considerate of people with disabilities, specialized support by generation, establishment and operation of a youth center, and creation and capacity-building projects for a senior digital experience zone. These initiatives present new policy directions across a wide range of fields.
In particular, initiatives expected to have a high level of citizen satisfaction-such as the creation and operation of the "Mind Convenience Store," provision of citizen-oriented AI services, establishment of an employment support center, and the women's job convenience store project-drew attention for their focus on improving the quality of life for local residents.
Additionally, the city plans to closely monitor and accelerate the progress of long-term projects that require sustained effort, such as the creation of the Gyeongsan Sowolji Ecological Space and the development of the Hayang Subway Station area, to ensure they proceed according to their original objectives.
Mayor Cho Hyunil of Gyeongsan stated, "In line with the government's expansionary fiscal policy for next year, we must innovate our expenditure structure so that financial resources can be invested more boldly and systematically where they are most needed. By keeping a cool-headed perspective on changes in the internal and external environment, let us once again remember that the goal and reason for the existence of administration is the happiness and comfort of our citizens, and do our utmost for regional development and the well-being of our citizens."
Meanwhile, the 58 policy initiatives identified through the "2026 100°C Citizen Experience Policy Briefing Session" will undergo thorough review for feasibility, effectiveness, citizen impact, and alignment with municipal policy direction, and will be finalized as new projects to be reflected in next year's major work plans and main budget.
