Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on September 2 that County Governor Jeong Cheolwon participated in the "Policy Meeting for Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads of Population Declining Areas" held at the Government Sejong Convention Center on August 29, where he took part in discussions on current issues and policies to attract population inflow.

This meeting brought together the heads of 89 population-declining regions nationwide to seek joint solutions to the crisis of regional extinction. Central government agencies, as well as public and private organizations, also participated to discuss ways to cooperate.

During the meeting, Governor Jeong jointly submitted a proposal containing 32 requests, including the expansion of the Local Extinction Response Fund, improvements to the criteria for re-designating population-declining areas, and the expansion of special provisions to revitalize the local economy.

The subsequent policy discussion featured the sharing of successful policies for attracting population inflow and in-depth discussions on practical measures, including the roles of central and local governments.

In particular, on this day, the county signed the "Local Revitalization Win-Win Sisterhood Business Agreement" with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, agreeing to promote various cooperative projects such as the promotion of local agricultural and specialty products, operation of workation programs, and participation in the Hometown Love Donation initiative.

Governor Jeong stated, "Through this meeting, we have strengthened our foundation for cooperation with the central government and directly conveyed the voices of our region. We will continue to actively develop and implement policies to attract population inflow and enhance regional vitality."
