Global Parade, Youth Run, and International Student Song Festival
A Diverse Lineup of Events at the Sinchon Global University Culture Festival
Seodaemun District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Sungheon) will host the '2025 Sinchon Global University Culture Festival' in the Sinchon area for three days from September 12 to 14.
Now in its third year, the festival is themed 'Global Wave, Sinchon Vibe.' It is organized by Seodaemun District and co-hosted by the Central University Student Planning Committee.
Last year, 44 universities from 35 countries participated, drawing a cumulative crowd of approximately 1.32 million people over three days. Visitors experienced cultures from around the world and university life, establishing the event as one of Seoul's premier global festivals. This year, young people from 50 universities across more than 40 countries are expected to join.
On the first day, September 12, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the 'Global Street Parade' will take place on Sinchon Yonsei-ro, featuring both local and international students. The parade will include a percussion performance group, university cheer squads, international students dressed in traditional Sungkyunkwan scholar attire, and a Taiwanese traditional dragon dance troupe, among other vibrant performances.
The official opening ceremony will follow on a special stage, featuring a welcoming entrance by foreign embassies in Korea, a grand traditional drum performance, and a fashion show highlighting the beauty of Hanbok.
On September 13, the '5K Youth RUN' will attract attention. Around 300 university students, including international students, will gather at Sinchon Star Plaza at 10 a.m. for warm-up exercises before running a 5-kilometer round-trip course that passes through the Yonsei University campus and the Ansan Jarak-gil trail.
At 1 p.m., university student club performances in vocal, dance, and magic will be showcased in the 'Campus Mixtape,' while at 7 p.m., a classical concert by the Seodaemun Orchestra, conducted by Ham Shin-ik and Symphony Song, will light up the stage.
On September 14, starting at 1 p.m., the 'Global Culture Journey' will feature traditional performances from T?rkiye, India, and Ecuador, followed by a Taekwondo demonstration by the Midong Elementary School team.
The 'International Student Song Festival - Sing in Sinchon,' which highlights hidden talents and singing skills, will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Twelve teams selected through online preliminaries will compete for the grand prize.
The closing concert, starting at 7 p.m., will feature performances by M.O.N.T, One Spirit, Seollege, Cyburger, and Haha & Skull, bringing the festival to a grand finale.
On September 13 and 14, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can enjoy various themed zones: the 'Global Zone,' where you can try on traditional attire from different countries at embassy promotional booths; the 'University Student Zone,' featuring performances by more than 20 university clubs; the 'International Student Zone,' where international students introduce their home cultures; the 'K-Traditional Game Challenge Zone,' offering experiences of traditional Korean games such as hopscotch, stone-toss, and Yutnori; and the 'World Food Zone,' with participation from embassies and local merchants.
Lee Sungheon, Mayor of Seodaemun District, said, "We hope many people will show interest and participate in this global cultural exchange platform, where young people from around the world gather to interact and collaborate beyond the boundaries of a local festival."
