Dobong District Selects 638 Banghak-dong Area as Candidate Site for 'Rapid Integrated Planning' Redevelopment

Covering 39,270 Square Meters,
Redevelopment Plan to Be Established

The area around 638 Banghak-dong in Dobong District, Seoul (Mayor Oh Eonseok), has been selected as a candidate site for the Rapid Integrated Planning Housing Redevelopment Project.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government held the 4th Redevelopment Candidate Site Selection Committee on August 27 and designated the area around 638 Banghak-dong as a candidate site. The area covers approximately 39,270 square meters, with Dodang-ro to the south and Sirubong-ro to the north.

To the west, there is a Moa Town project site that has already received management plan approval, and to the east, another Rapid Integrated Planning candidate site was selected in June. The district office expects that the selection of this candidate site will lead to a significant improvement in the residential environment of the Banghak-dong area.

Previously, residents of this area applied for the Rapid Integrated Planning candidate site competition in 2021 and 2022 but were not selected. The reason was the proximity to Dobongsan Mountain, which made high-rise development difficult. However, following the announcement in June last year to ease height restrictions around Dobongsan Mountain, residents reapplied for the competition in July this year and were finally selected as a candidate site. During the reapplication process, the resident consent rate reached 53%.

Oh Eonseok, Mayor of Dobong District, stated, "The area around 638 Banghak-dong will begin establishing a housing redevelopment maintenance plan and commissioning a study to designate the maintenance zone," adding, "We will do our utmost to provide administrative support to ensure the smooth progress of the project."
