3 Million Won in Research Funding Provided
On September 1, Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced that it is accepting applications for candidates for the "2025 Jeongeup City Master Artisan" program, which aims to discover and select skilled technicians who have dedicated their lives to industrial sites.
The Jeongeup City Master Artisan program is modeled after the national master artisan selection system and will select up to one person per occupation from 92 occupations across 38 fields. Those ultimately selected will receive a certificate and a nameplate of recognition, along with research activity funding of 3 million won per year for two years.
Eligibility is limited to skilled technicians who have worked in the same occupation for at least 15 years and have been registered residents of Jeongeup City for at least the past three years as of the announcement date. In addition, applicants must be recognized for having made significant contributions to the advancement of skilled techniques or the status of skilled technicians.
Applications will be accepted until the 22nd. Applicants must be recommended by the head of their township, town, or neighborhood in Jeongeup City, or by the head of a relevant organization or institution. After completing the application form, it must be submitted directly to the Job and Economy Division of Jeongeup City Hall or sent by mail. Detailed information regarding eligibility and the review process can be found in the notices section of the city hall website.
A city official stated, "We encourage the active interest and participation of skilled technicians who have devoted their lives to a single path," adding, "We hope that the selection of Jeongeup City Master Artisans will enhance the pride of technicians and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the local industry."
