As Part of the Performing Arts Distribution Support Project
To Be Held at the Culture and Arts Center on the 17th
Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced on September 1 that it will host the contemporary dance performance "Swing Again" at the Grand Theater of the Pyeongchang County Culture and Arts Center at 7 p.m. on September 17. The event aims to expand cultural opportunities for local residents and enhance accessibility to performing arts.
This performance is being organized after being selected for the "2025 Performing Arts Regional Distribution Support Project" by the Arts Management Support Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The show will feature the "Ahn Sungsoo Pickup Group," led by renowned choreographer and artistic director Ahn Sungsoo. A total of nine dancers and a narrator will take the stage, presenting a performance lasting about 60 minutes.
"Swing Again" is a remake of the hit 2018 piece "Swing" by the National Contemporary Dance Company of Korea, upgraded for this production. It is a dance drama that combines the lively rhythms of jazz and swing music with popular choreography styles such as disco and Latin. In particular, the energetic melodies of Swedish jazz band "Gentlemen & Gangsters" and audience-friendly narration are expected to create a stage that can be easily enjoyed by people of all ages.
The performance will feature classic jazz masterpieces such as "All of Me," "Lime House Blues," and "Sing Sing Sing," as well as a variety of songs spanning different eras, including "I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC & The Sunshine Band and "It's Tricky" by Run DMC, promising to delight the audience's senses.
Residents who wish to attend can apply for tickets in advance through online reservations (NOL Interpark), and anyone aged seven or older is eligible to attend.
Park Yongho, head of the county's Culture and Arts Division, stated, "This Swing Again performance will be a meaningful opportunity for residents to experience high-quality creative dance at a local venue. We will continue to do our best to enhance the cultural sensibility and quality of life for our residents through a diverse range of performances."
