On September 1, President Lee Jae Myung, marking Gender Equality Week, stated, "In line with the status of the Republic of Korea, we must boldly reform unreasonable systems and correct misguided perceptions."
Through his social media account that day, President Lee said, "Our society has made continuous efforts to achieve gender equality," but also pointed out, "In reality, structural discrimination still remains unresolved in many areas."
Gender Equality Week is designated annually under the Framework Act on Gender Equality, and this year it runs from today until the 7th.
President Lee expressed, "When we respect and embrace each other instead of hatred and discrimination, we can create a better world," and added, "I sincerely hope that we can join hands and move forward together for a Korea where everyone is respected and everyone is happy."
