"We Have Not Made Any Statements Out of Respect for the Other Party"
On August 31, BigHit Music announced that Jimin of the group BTS and actress Song Daeun were in a relationship in the past, but are not currently dating.
BigHit Music stated, "The artist and the other party were once close and maintained a relationship in the past, but this was several years ago and they are not in a romantic relationship now."
The dating rumors surfaced on August 27 when Song Daeun posted a video featuring Jimin on her personal social media account. The video showed Song Daeun waiting for Jimin in front of an elevator and the two having a conversation. The agency refrained from making any statements for four days, but confirmed the past relationship on this day.
Jimin and Song Daeun have been at the center of dating rumors several times since 2022. In May of last year, Song Daeun also posted a video on social media that was believed to feature Jimin, leading to further speculation about their relationship.
The agency explained, "Out of respect for the other party, we have not made any statements until now. However, as unfounded rumors continue to spread, we are compelled to clarify the minimum facts." They added, "We hope that reckless speculation about their private lives does not cause harm to the individuals involved."
Song Daeun first gained recognition through Channel A's dating program 'Heart Signal 2' in 2018, and has since appeared in dramas such as 'Can't Lose' and 'Once Again.' Jimin completed his military service in June, and BTS is preparing for a full group comeback in the spring of next year.
