According to major Japanese media outlets such as Kyodo News on August 30, the two leaders observed the test vehicle 'ALFA-X,' which was stopped outside the train, during their journey and received an explanation about it from East Japan Railway Company (JR East) officials.

JR East plans to utilize the technology verified with ALFA-X to develop a new train model, the E10 series, which is scheduled to begin operation after April 2030. India intends to introduce the E10 series trains on its high-speed rail line currently under construction in the western region of the country.

Prime Minister Ishiba and Prime Minister Modi also visited the Tokyo Electron factory, a semiconductor manufacturing equipment company, in Miyagi Prefecture. Tokyo Electron has partnered with Tata Electronics in India to support talent development and has established India's first development base in the southern city of Bengaluru.

During the summit held in Tokyo the previous day, the two sides agreed to establish the 'Economic Security Initiative,' a consultative body aimed at ensuring a stable supply of critical materials, including semiconductors.

Prime Minister Modi, who visited Japan for the first time in about two years since May 2023, will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin, China, starting on August 31.
