Goyang Selected for Gyeonggi-do Cultural Technology Project
Exhibition Runs Until the 21st at Goyang Eoullimnuri Square
A 12-Meter Tower of Light and 50 Water Masses Create a Spectacular Scene
A New Festival Where Art and Science Meet Through AR Experiences
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on August 30 that it will host the interactive media exhibition '2025 Orbit Water Pagoda' for 10 days from September 12 to 21 at the Goyang Eoullimnuri Square.
This exhibition is a project selected for the 'Cultural Technology Content Contest' hosted by Gyeonggi Province. Goyang City, along with three other cities and counties, will each showcase unique nighttime landscapes and cultural arts content representing their regions.
'OR:BIT' is a compound word combining 'orbit' and 'light,' signifying the idea of illuminating the city with light. This exhibition, which fuses water, light, and cutting-edge media technology, goes beyond simple appreciation; it is an interactive media festival where citizens can actively participate and engage. Under the early autumn night sky, it promises a spectacular blend of art and science.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a massive 12-meter-tall water tower and more than 50 'water mass' sculptures. Visitors can roll and stack water masses of various sizes and colors to create a 'Wishing Tower,' and share their wishes using augmented reality (AR) technology through their smartphones and a large screen.
In addition, hands-on and educational programs for families and youth will be offered, aiming to establish a new model for cultural and artistic festivals where different generations can enjoy and learn together.
The exhibition will run daily from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with five 20-minute experience sessions each evening. Advance reservations via Naver (https://booking.naver.com/booking/12/bizes/982665) are required to participate at a preferred time slot, and on-site participation will be available only for certain time slots. Due to anticipated high demand, advance reservations are strongly recommended.
Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "Orbit Water Pagoda is not just an exhibition to be seen, but a stage where citizens themselves complete the art of light, and a special experimental space where technology is reborn as art. I hope many citizens will join us to make Goyang's early autumn nights shine even brighter."
