The meeting was presided over by Jeong Jeongrae, Acting President of Korail. The session brought together officials from departments responsible for passenger services, rolling stock, facilities, electrical systems, and safety, providing an opportunity to share the progress of special inspections in each area.
In particular, the participants agreed to focus on proactively inspecting tracks, track switches, signaling devices, and rolling stock facilities to ensure the safety of KTX trains and infrastructure, especially in response to seasonal factors such as the change of seasons.
They also reviewed the maintenance status of areas requiring improvement, as well as the guidance signs installed at major stations such as Seoul Station and Gyeongju Station to ensure they are easily understood by foreign visitors, and checked the anticipated congestion levels.
Korail will increase staffing during the APEC Summit period to further enhance cleanliness inside train cars. A special inspection team will be formed to monitor cleaning conditions at all times, including performing steam cleaning and dust removal inside passenger cabins.
During the summit, an integrated situation room will be operated to ensure seamless cooperation among departments, enabling prompt responses to unusual situations and securing alternative transportation options to fully support the transportation needs of APEC participants.
Acting President Jeong Jeongrae stated, "We will meticulously inspect all areas so that APEC participants can use the railway safely and conveniently, and we will do our utmost to respond swiftly to any unexpected situations."
