"Supporting the Self-Sufficiency of Merchants"

On August 29, SungSook Han, Minister of SMEs and Startups, visited the Seonhak-dong Food Specialty Street Alley-type Shopping District in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon to inspect the current status of business operations in the area.

On this day, Minister Han held a tea meeting with local merchants, listening to a variety of voices from the field regarding the increase in customers and changes in sales since the designation as an alley-type shopping district, as well as the usage status of livelihood recovery consumption coupons and Onnuri gift certificates. The merchants requested practical support, such as marketing assistance and infrastructure enhancements, so that the Seonhak-dong Food Specialty Street could grow beyond a simple food alley to become a leading tourism and cultural asset of Yeonsu-gu.

The Seonhak-dong Food Specialty Street is a representative food alley in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, blending local gastronomy and everyday culture. Efforts to revitalize the local business district continue, including the promotion of the resident-led food culture festival “Seonhak-dong Food Specialty Street Osipsiyeong,” which is driven by the voluntary participation and cooperation of the merchants’ association and local residents.

Minister Han stated, “Alley-type shopping districts are spaces closely tied to the daily lives of local residents and serve as the livelihood foundation for small business owners. We will listen carefully to voices from the field and strengthen tailored support. The government will thoroughly ensure that policies such as livelihood consumption coupons and specialized alley business projects are genuinely helpful on the ground, and we will continue to promote initiatives that enhance the self-sufficiency of merchants.”
