A Variety of Educational and Experiential Events to Be Showcased
On August 29, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will operate a variety of educational and experiential programs in celebration of Gender Equality Week from September 1 to 7.
On September 3, a special lecture on gender equality by Professor Yeom Geonryeong will be held at Neumnae Hall in Siheung City Hall, targeting local community leaders such as neighborhood representatives, members of the Residents' Autonomy Committee, and members of the Community Social Security Council.
On September 4, a participatory program tailored to teenagers, titled "Gender Equality Challenge - I Am the Quiz King!", will take place at Songun Middle School. Designed in a quiz format, this event aims to help young people easily relate to and expand their understanding of gender equality values in an engaging and enjoyable way.
On September 6, a commemorative ceremony for Gender Equality Week will be held at Neumnae Hall in Siheung City Hall, with around 200 citizens participating. The venue will feature experiential and promotional booths hosted by women's organizations and institutions, and the "Siheung Women's Human Rights Film Festival" will also take place.
Shim Yoonsik, Director of Welfare at Siheung City, stated, "I hope that this Gender Equality Week will serve as an opportunity to make Siheung a more gender-equal community, with the active interest and participation of our citizens."
