BISTEP Achieves 'B' Grade in Busan City Management Evaluation, Up One Level from Last Year

Positive Assessment for Contributions to Busan’s Industrial Growth
and Improvements in Organizational Culture

Busan Institute of Science and Technology for Higher Education Promotion (BISTEP), led by President Kim Youngbu, announced that it received a 'B' grade in the institutional management evaluation released by the city of Busan on August 27, marking a one-step improvement from the previous year.

This evaluation reflects BISTEP's contributions to laying the foundation for the future growth of Busan's industries and economic advancement, including the dissemination of policy research outcomes, strengthening of planning in Busan's strategic industrial sectors, and the establishment of a real-time evaluation and analysis system to enhance the efficiency of R&D projects.

In the area of institutional operations, BISTEP's multifaceted efforts were positively assessed, such as improving a mission-oriented organizational culture, ensuring the early stabilization of the affiliated Busan RISE Innovation Center, and strengthening external communication to expand citizen participation.

BISTEP, which is responsible for Busan's R&D-based science and technology policies and the promotion of higher education, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Notably, despite significant changes to its name and functions after being designated last year as the dedicated institution for the Busan-style RISE project, BISTEP has maintained stable operations and has continued to strengthen its standing within the local community.

Additionally, President Kim Youngbu, who took office last year as the fourth president, has redefined the institution's roles and responsibilities with the goal of realizing the vision of 'Busan Innovation City (BIG), where science, technology, industry, and higher education converge and create waves.' He is focused on advancing BISTEP's core business, which connects policy research, business planning, and evaluation analysis, and is dedicated to delivering tangible results that citizens can experience.

President Kim Youngbu stated, "The improvement in our management evaluation results compared to last year is thanks to the efforts of all our members for the development of the institution. We will do our utmost to create a culture where employees can work with pride, leverage our institutional capabilities to drive regional development, and ultimately contribute to the happiness of our citizens."
