Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province has rolled up its sleeves to support the recovery and employment stability of local companies struggling with management difficulties due to wildfire damage.

Andong City Launches Employment Retention Support Project for Wildfire Disaster Areas Kwon Kichang, Mayor of Andong (third from the right), selected 77 companies for the Wildfire Disaster Area Employment Retention Support Project and signed a business agreement.

On August 27, the city announced at the Andong Grand Hotel that 77 local companies have been finally selected through the signing ceremony for the "Disaster Special Area Employment Retention Support Project."

This project was launched after North Gyeongsang Province was selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's "Employment Slowdown Response Support Project." Five cities and counties in the province that suffered major wildfire damage this year have been included as beneficiaries.

Previously, on July 10, Andong City held an information session at the Stanford Hotel Andong to encourage companies to participate. As a result, a total of 77 companies were selected, including 48 directly affected businesses and 29 indirectly affected businesses. Through this initiative, 192 workers will receive employment retention support.

The support amounts to a total of 2.597 billion KRW per company for up to seven months. It is expected to provide substantial help not only as temporary relief but also for the normalization of business operations and long-term employment stability for companies affected by wildfires.

Mayor Kwon Gichang emphasized, "This employment retention support project will serve as a strong pillar for local companies and workers suffering from both wildfires and the economic downturn," adding, "We will do our utmost to contribute to the recovery of the local economy and employment stability."
