MCST and KOCCA Explore Future Content with Story Creators

Sharing Experiences and Achievements with Aspiring and Emerging Writers

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency held "The Story Concert" for story creators on August 28 at Myeongdong Community House Masil in Seoul. The event provided practical support for aspiring and emerging creators entering the global content industry, and offered a platform to share on-site experiences and achievements.

The first part featured the "Story Creation Powerhouse" seminar, which was opened to the public as a program. Professor Jung Jiyeol of Hanyang University explained various methods and trends in money laundering under the theme of "Corporate Crime and Money Laundering." Yoo Jaecheol, CEO of the Korea Funeral Culture Institute, captivated the audience by sharing stories from the funeral field based on his 30 years of hands-on experience.


In the second part, Jeon Sunyoung, a winner of the Korea Story Contest, and writers Lee Taeyeon and Jung Myungsup, who entered the content industry through KOCCA's "Storyum," shared their experiences. Jeon reflected on her work writing the dramas "Heo Sikdang" and "I Took the Male Lead's First Night," emphasizing the importance of promoting her works and incorporating feedback. Lee debuted in drama with "My Friend's Graduation," while Jung entered the webtoon and publishing sectors with "Seoul City Exorcism Department" and the full-length novel "Amhaeng," respectively. They stressed the importance of perseverance during long production processes and the significance of character development.


Over the past 16 years, KOCCA has discovered 258 writers through the Korea Story Contest and commercialized 240 works, including "Descendants of the Sun," "The Night Owl," and "Ashfall." Lee Hyunju, head of the Content IP Promotion Division, stated, "We will establish a creator-centered support ecosystem so that stories can expand into tangible value in society and the market."
