Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on August 28 that it will postpone the reservation schedule for this year's Chuseok holiday train tickets by two weeks, with reservations to be held over four days from September 15 to 18. The reservations, originally scheduled for September 1 to 4, have been delayed.

Aftermath of Cheongdo Fatal Accident: Chuseok Train Ticket Reservations Postponed to Start on the 15th

KORAIL explained that the reservation schedule was postponed due to the need for track stabilization measures and adjustments to train operations during the holiday period, following a collision involving a Mugunghwa-ho train on the Gyeongbu Line between Namseonghyeon and Cheongdo on August 19. The Cheongdo accident occurred when a Mugunghwa-ho train struck seven track workers, resulting in casualties: two people died and five were injured. Since the number of fatalities and seriously injured reached three or more, the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board has launched an investigation into the cause.

Advance reservations for seniors aged 65 and older, registered persons with disabilities under the Disability Welfare Act, and national merit recipients eligible for transportation support will be available for two days, from September 15 to 16. Online reservations for the general public will be held from September 17 to 18. Reservations can be made through the KORAIL Talk app, the official website, and the customer service center (1544-8545).

Payments can be made starting from 5:00 p.m. on September 18. Tickets reserved in advance for transportation-vulnerable groups must be paid for by midnight on September 24, while tickets reserved by the general public must be paid for by midnight on September 21.

A KORAIL representative stated, "We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the change in the Chuseok ticket reservation schedule," and added, "Please check the KORAIL website for further details."
