The suspects, who are high school students, are accused of stealing gold necklaces, gold bracelets, and other jewelry worth approximately 30 million won from a jewelry store in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, at around 2:30 p.m. the previous day. The investigation found that they entered the store posing as customers, and A took advantage of a moment when the store owner was distracted to try on items and then fled.

In response to the store owner's report, a mobile patrol unit and the Hwajeong police substation searched the area, tracked A, and apprehended him in an apartment complex after a pursuit of about 500 meters. The accomplice was also caught on a nearby street. The police recovered the gold necklace, and are investigating the loss of the gold bracelet, which is believed to have been lost during the escape.

The victim said, "I am relieved that the suspect was apprehended quickly thanks to the prompt response of the police." The police stated, "We will continue to protect the safety of residents by responding swiftly to crimes based on mobility and cooperation."

During questioning, A reportedly stated that the motive was to cover living expenses. The police, taking into account that the suspects are minors, have handed them over to their guardians and are continuing the investigation.
