Kim Keonhee largely refused to testify during what was effectively her final interrogation within the detention period.
At a regular briefing on the 28th, Special Prosecutor Oh Jeonghee stated, "Kim Keonhee is generally refusing to testify on most matters." The special prosecution team, led by Min Junggi, summoned Kim on this day to question her regarding the alleged stock price manipulation case involving Deutsche Motors.
Since being detained, Kim has been summoned and questioned five times as of this day, but has exercised her right to remain silent in most instances. The special prosecution team plans to indict Kim on the 29th.
Additionally, the special prosecution team plans to indict Kim Yesung, who has been identified as the housekeeper for Kim Keonhee's family in connection with the so-called "Butler Gate" allegations, on the 29th as well. Kim Yesung was arrested on the 15th on charges of embezzling a total of 3.38 billion won in company funds.
The special prosecution team also plans to summon Jeon Seong, known as Geonjin Bopsa, as a suspect for questioning at around 2 p.m. on the 31st. Jeon was detained on the 21st on charges including receiving bribes under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Jeon is accused of receiving a diamond necklace and a Chanel bag, allegedly as gifts for Kim Keonhee, as well as requests for favors regarding church matters from the Unification Church between April and August 2022, and then delivering these items to Kim. Jeon is reportedly denying all charges.
