Myung-Whun Chung and Mao Fujita to Perform Together
Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung) announced on the 28th that the 9th Yeosu Music Festival will be held at GS Caltex Yeulmaru from August 30 to September 6.
This year’s music festival is co-hosted by Yeosu City and South Jeolla Province and organized by the Yeosu Music Festival Foundation. The festival has been prepared with even greater variety to wish for the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.

At the opening concert, world-renowned maestro Myung-Whun Chung will conduct, with pianist Mao Fujita, known as the "Mozart of the East," performing as a soloist, raising expectations for the event.
Major programs include the Family Fantasy Concert by Baek Yunhak, a solo recital by Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, a performance by bass-baritone Samuel Youn, tenor Yoo Chaehun, winner of Phantom Singer, and a closing concert featuring Leonidas Kavakos alongside local young musicians, among other diverse performances.
Tickets can be reserved through NOL Interpark, and residents of South Jeolla Province are eligible for a 20% discount. Youth can attend all performances for 10,000 won each.
Mayor Chung Kimyung stated, "The Yeosu Music Festival is more than just a series of performances; it is an important event that provides citizens with opportunities to enjoy high-quality culture and further enhances our city’s cultural competitiveness. I hope for the active interest and participation of our citizens."
South Jeolla Province Governor Kim Yungrok said, "I hope this festival will be an opportunity for the growth of local culture and arts, and I wish for the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo. The provincial government will continue to actively support such excellent cultural events in the future."
