As a result, the University of Seoul will fully implement a comprehensive startup support system that covers the entire cycle, from entrepreneurship education to business incubation, proof-of-concept and commercialization, and investment linkage. In conjunction with the Seoul RISE (Regional Innovation-led Startup Ecosystem) project, the university will work to expand a regionally innovative startup ecosystem.
Starting with this project, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has set AI-based startup development and strengthening connections with the RISE project as its core directions. Selected universities will receive an annual budget of 1.2 billion won for up to four years.
The purpose of the Seoul Campus Town Project is to systematically foster youth entrepreneurship and revitalize local communities by utilizing the human and material resources of universities.
In line with this selection, the University of Seoul has presented its "Seoul Impact 2.0" strategy, outlining a vision that includes: customized scaling up support for each growth stage, strengthening AI+X convergence entrepreneurship capabilities, solving urban problems through Seoul-style solutions, and global expansion.
The University of Seoul plans to particularly strengthen AI-based practical entrepreneurship education and provide a testbed environment, as well as demonstrate entrepreneurship models that address local and urban issues, and connect these to global expansion as part of its growth strategy.
Through these efforts, the university expects to increase the survival and growth rates of incubated companies and accelerate the development of "baby unicorn" startups.
President Won Yonggeol stated, "The University of Seoul will create a startup ecosystem that grows together with the local community," adding, "We will strengthen performance-driven startup support in connection with the Seoul RISE project."
