Cheongyang Expands "Vacant House Connection Housing" Project
10,000 Won Monthly Rent With No Deposit for Up to Three Years
Exclusive Support for Young Adults, Newlyweds, and Rural Returnees
Applications Open for Four Newly Renovated Units This Year
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province will supply additional units of its signature rural settlement policy, the "Vacant House Connection Housing (10,000 Won Rental Housing)," this year by utilizing vacant homes in rural areas.
Residents can live for up to three years by paying only 10,000 won per month without a deposit, making this Cheongyang-exclusive housing support program stand out for helping young people, newlyweds, and returnees to farming or rural life settle down stably.
The county announced on August 28 that it will expand the "Vacant House Connection Housing" project, which renovates vacant homes and rents them out for 10,000 won per month using the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Local Extinction Response Fund, and is now recruiting new tenants.
According to the county, a total of four units will be supplied this year, located in: Sanjeong-ri, Hwaseong-myeon; Jigok-ri, Cheongnam-myeon; Yeongyang-ri, Ungok-myeon; and Guryong-ri, Namyang-myeon. Rental conditions allow residents to live for up to three years with no deposit and a monthly rent of 10,000 won, with the contract renewable annually.
Applicants must be: young adults aged 18 to 45; newlyweds or those planning to marry within seven years of marriage registration; or returnees to farming or rural life who have moved to Cheongyang County within the last five years after living in a city for at least one year.
Only the head of household can apply, and applications must be submitted in person or by mail between September 1 and September 10.
County Governor Kim Dongon stated, "The Vacant House Connection Housing project goes beyond simply reusing vacant rural homes. It provides a stable home for young people, newlyweds, and returnees preparing for a new start," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create living conditions where residents can feel warmth and stability."
Meanwhile, last year, the Vacant House Connection Housing project supplied three units for the first time in the Chungcheong region, recording an average competition rate of 18 to 1 and a maximum of 25 to 1, proving its popularity.
The county plans to supply at least five units annually to expand this into a sustainable rural settlement model.
