POSCO Group Showcases Future Energy Technology Capabilities for Decarbonization

Showcasing Decarbonization Vision and Carbon Reduction Technologies
POSCO Group Presents Hydrogen Reduction Steelmaking, Bridge Technologies, and Intelligent Factory Solutions at BEXCO

POSCO Group is participating in the "2025 Climate Industry International Expo," held at BEXCO in Busan for three days starting from the 27th, where it will showcase its decarbonization vision and carbon reduction technology capabilities.

The Climate Industry International Expo is an international event co-hosted by major government ministries. This year, it is linked with "Energy Super Week" (August 25-29), organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and will introduce future energy innovation technologies brought by the AI era.

Marking its fifth year of participation, POSCO Group, along with POSCO Holdings, POSCO, and POSCO International, will operate an integrated exhibition hall.

The POSCO Group exhibition hall consists of five zones: Decarbonization Vision, Hydrogen Reduction Steelmaking, Bridge Technology, Intelligent Factory, and Energy Transition. In the central Decarbonization Vision zone, visitors can see at a glance POSCO Group's decarbonization strategy, from hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology to carbon reduction bridge technology and energy transition.

In the Hydrogen Reduction Steelmaking zone, the group will introduce "HyREX," a Korean hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology that uses hydrogen instead of coal as a reducing agent, dramatically lowering carbon dioxide emissions. This Korean hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology passed the government's preliminary feasibility study for the national R&D project evaluation in June this year. POSCO Group plans to complete the development of commercial hydrogen reduction steelmaking technology by 2030.

The Bridge Technology zone will feature low-carbon raw material utilization, the introduction of electric furnaces, and demonstration technologies for CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage). In the Intelligent Factory zone, the group will present various technologies, including AI-based smart blast furnaces and intelligent robot applications. Notably, visitors can see a "quadruped walking robot" that inspects equipment in areas difficult for workers to access.

Finally, the Energy Transition zone, which comprehensively introduces the group's energy and materials business capabilities, is also noteworthy. Highlights include the POSCO International Incheon LNG combined cycle power plant, which is transitioning step by step to hydrogen-blended power generation; PosMAC, a highly corrosion-resistant alloy-coated steel plate developed and supplied by POSCO for energy storage systems (ESS); and high-manganese steel for LNG and liquefied hydrogen tanks, along with detailed information about various energy steel products.

Meanwhile, POSCO Group recognizes the transition to decarbonization as a strategic opportunity to strengthen its future growth engines. The group plans to solidify its foundation for sustainable growth by systematically implementing decarbonization strategies throughout all processes, including technology development, facility investment, and energy procurement.
