Photo Zones, Village, and Marathon: A Comprehensive Cultural Event
Haenam County in Jeollanam-do announced on August 27 that it will host the "1st Haenam Sweet Potato Garden Festival" at Solaseado Sani Garden in Sani-myeon.
This festival will be held for two days, from September 27 to 28, at Sani Garden, the first garden-style botanical garden in Jeollanam-do. It is organized as a comprehensive cultural event themed around sweet potatoes, the region's representative agricultural product.

During the festival, visitors can experience sweet potato harvesting and enjoy a sweet potato flower photo zone. Unique desserts such as sweet potato bread, sweet potato latte, and sweet potato ice cream will be available for tasting. There will also be a local farmers' market on-site, where freshly harvested sweet potatoes and specialty products from Sani-myeon can be purchased.
The county expects that the festival will widely promote the country's first-ever "Sweet Potato Garden" and establish it as a leading local festival in the autumn season. In addition, Sani Garden will provide visitors with rest areas and photo spots by creating a "pop-up garden photo zone" featuring its own sweet potato character and a cottage-style "Sweet Potato Village." The pop-up garden will remain open as a permanent feature until October 31, even after the festival concludes.
On the second day of the festival, August 28, the "Green Step Marathon," organized by Mokpo MBC, will also be held. The marathon will take place along an ecological and scenic course connecting Sani Garden and the Solaseado Tourism and Leisure City, offering various distances such as 5 km, 10 km, and a half marathon.
A county official explained, "The festival was planned with the intention of providing a variety of foods and experiences, as well as health and enjoyment, in the clean autumn nature."
