Defense Minister An Kyubaek visited the Marine Corps 2nd Division Maldo Outpost in Ganghwa County, Incheon, on the 27th to encourage the soldiers. This marks the first time a defense minister has personally visited Maldo, a westernmost frontline area located just 6 kilometers from Yeonbaek in Hwanghae Province, North Korea.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, Minister An had a meal with the Marines who are focused on guard operations and stated, "I will do my utmost to create a culture that respects your dedication to firmly defending the Republic of Korea with the Marine Corps spirit, and to improve morale and welfare for all service members."
Additionally, Minister An visited the Special Reconnaissance Battalion under the Marine Corps Special Reconnaissance Brigade, which was established on July 1, and received a briefing on their operational status. Minister An emphasized, "The combat instincts and experience gained through realistic training translate into the ability to successfully carry out missions in real situations," and urged, "I hope you will accumulate ample experience through regular, practical training so that you can respond instinctively when it matters most."
