On the 27th, Seo-gu District announced that it will conduct practical training on preventing lonely deaths and improving emergency response skills for 164 community care team members over a two-month period until the end of October.
This training will be held a total of 13 times, focusing on strengthening practical competencies such as: understanding lonely deaths (analysis of causes and case studies), self-care for caregivers (communication techniques and prevention of emotional exhaustion), emergency response methods (CPR practice), and case management and welfare service linkage (discussion-based learning).
The “Our Neighborhood Community Care Team” began in 2020 as the “Lonely Death Prevention Officer” program and was expanded and reorganized in 2023 under its current name as a resident-led care initiative.
The team continues to make welfare calls and home visits to high-risk groups for lonely deaths in the district. In the first half of this year alone, the 164 team members visited 2,131 households, conducting over 21,500 welfare checks, crisis responses, and service linkages, thereby establishing a community care safety net.
Kim Ikang, head of Seo-gu District, stated, “This training will provide an opportunity for the community care team to operate in a more professional and systematic manner,” adding, “We hope that the culture of Seo-gu, where neighbors care for each other, will take root and create a warm and safe community.”
