A Wellness Tourism Festival for Healing and Recovery

Boryeong to Host Korea's Largest "Barefoot Walking Festival"

Boryeong City in South Chungcheong Province will hold the nation's largest "Barefoot Walking Festival" at Daecheon Beach.

This festival, themed around healing and recovery in harmony with nature, is expected to showcase the full appeal of Boryeong as a wellness tourism city.

On August 27, Boryeong City announced that it will host the "2025 Boryeong Beach Barefoot Walking Festival" at Daecheon Beach and its surrounding areas for three days, from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7.

The festival, under the theme "Healing and Recovery through Connection with Nature," will be organized as the largest barefoot walking experience event in the country.

Daecheon Beach is recognized as one of Korea’s leading marine tourism destinations, with its wide sandy shore and pristine beach considered ideal for barefoot walking.

The city plans to leverage these regional strengths to offer citizens and tourists a special healing experience that connects them to the Earth.

During the festival, a variety of programs will be offered, including: ▲self-guided barefoot walking experiences ▲sunset beach barefoot walking ▲beach playground ▲mobile health promotion center ▲healing physical therapy experience center ▲barefoot walking marine healing forum, among others.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "This will be a special opportunity to experience healing and recovery by fully immersing oneself in the natural energy of Daecheon Beach," adding, "I hope many citizens and tourists will join us to experience Boryeong’s unique wellness tourism brand."

According to experts, barefoot walking is known to deliver significant health benefits such as strengthening the immune system, reducing inflammation, alleviating stress, and improving sleep, as the body comes into direct contact with the Earth's electrons.
