Nine Departments to Relocate to Yongshin Building Near Suyu Station
Gangbuk District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soonhee) will begin relocating all its departments in phases to a temporary office building from next month through December, in preparation for the construction of a new district office. The first relocation site is the Yongshin Building (323 Dobong-ro), located near Exit 5 of Suyu Station, where nine departments will begin work in September.
The district selected the Suyu Station area as the temporary office location because it is close to the current office and offers convenient access for residents, which is necessary to prepare for demolition and construction work on the current office site. This plan aims to minimize any administrative disruptions.
By department, the Environment Division and Cleaning Administration Division will move on September 8; the Regional Economy Division and Youth Employment Division on September 15; the Disaster Safety Division and Educational Support Division on September 22; and the Culture & Tourism Division, Sports for All Division, and Digital Information Division on September 29. Each will begin work at the Yongshin Building on their respective dates.
The district noted that the relocation schedule may change and asked residents to confirm with the relevant departments before visiting. In addition, separate announcements will be made regarding the second and third phases of the relocation, which will take place after October, to minimize confusion.
The new district office building will be a complex facility with six basement floors and seventeen above-ground floors, with a total floor area of approximately 69,000 square meters. It will house the district office, district council, and public health center, as well as cultural and rest areas for residents, fulfilling various community infrastructure functions. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with completion targeted for 2028.
Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbuk District, stated, "The construction of the new district office will not only enhance administrative efficiency and improve convenience for residents, but will also play a pivotal role in revitalizing the local economy. We will continue to do our best to ensure a systematic relocation and stable operation of the office."
