Introducing Works by European Painters Salvo, Schulze, and Alftan
at Shinsegae Gallery Cheongdam, September 3 to October 25
Shinsegae announced on the 27th that it will present a group exhibition featuring three world-renowned painters from Europe.
This exhibition will be held at Shinsegae Gallery Cheongdam from September 3 to October 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to view works by Salvo from Italy, Andreas Schulze from Germany, and Henni Alftan, a Finnish artist based in Paris, all in one place.
The exhibition is organized around three themes: light and time, framing, and scene composition. Through Salvo’s works, visitors can experience densely layered colors; Alftan’s framing reconstructs scenes from everyday life within a restrained canvas; and Schulze’s pieces feature strong contrasts and abstract techniques to create unique scenes.
Shinsegae has arranged Salvo’s works in chronological and chromatic order, allowing visitors to experience changes in color as they move through the exhibition. Henni Alftan uses doors, windows, and mirrors to encourage viewers to imagine the world beyond the frame, in line with the artist’s intention. Andreas Schulze expresses subjects in rounded forms, offering a sense of joy and humor.
Shinsegae expects that more customers will have artistic experiences through its department store gallery. It has been reported that the number of visitors to Shinsegae Gallery Cheongdam has increased by about 30% compared to when it first opened in September 2023. Most visitors are customers in their 20s and 30s who are interested in trends and fashion.
A Shinsegae Gallery representative stated, “Shinsegae, which has showcased high-caliber exhibitions by both domestic and international artists such as Kim Whanki and Picasso, is now opening a special exhibition where visitors can escape the fast pace of consumption and appreciate the sensibility of painting. We will continue to present authentic exhibitions and content that combine various genres such as fashion and lifestyle, strengthening artistic communication with our customers.”
