Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC (LAFC) is reaping significant benefits from signing Son Heungmin (33). Since his arrival, not only have home game ticket sales surged, but the club's exposure on social media has also been maximized.

On August 26 (local time), LAFC posted an article titled "Son's Impact" on its official website. The main point is that the impact of Son Heungmin's signing is unprecedented, as evidenced by various statistics and the atmosphere on the streets.

According to the club, since Son Heungmin joined, views of club-related content have reached 33.98 billion, marking a 594% increase, and media coverage of the club has also risen by 289%. In addition, demand for home game tickets has soared to record levels, with even the newly created standing section selling out, and the club's social media followers have more than doubled.

LAFC reported that the effect is more than five times greater than when the club signed Gareth Bale in 2022. The club also stated, "The best evidence of Son Heungmin's influence is difficult to gauge without walking through the streets of Koreatown in LA."

Josh Ahn, a member of Tiger SG, said, "In the past, when I mentioned going to an LAFC match, my family or friends didn't really care, but after Son Heungmin was signed, it's been a frenzy. People are willing to stand for six hours just to watch. While it's not quite at the level of Shohei Ohtani with the LA Dodgers yet, it's certainly comparable," he emphasized.

This month, Son Heungmin ended his 10-year stint with English Premier League (EPL) club Tottenham Hotspur and joined LAFC for a record MLS transfer fee of up to 26.5 million dollars (approximately 3.68 billion won).
