Jeongeup City to Host 'The Mat-it-neun K-Classic' Concert on August 30

Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on August 26 that the first performance in the youth music journey series, titled 'The Mat-it-neun K-Classic,' will be held at 7 p.m. on August 30 at the Jeongeupsa Arts Center. The event is organized by Jeongeup YMCA and features the Amici Arts Troupe.

This concert aims to provide local youth with a broad cultural experience and to reinterpret songs about Jeongeup and Korean music as vocal works, delivering the message that "our music can also be truly enjoyable."

The program includes pieces such as 'Saeya Saeya,' 'Singing Cosmos,' and 'Gentle Breeze.' The 80-minute concert is free for all youth and citizens, and is expected to be an ideal Saturday evening event for families to enjoy together.

Choi Youngrak, Director of Jeongeupsa Arts Center, said, "I hope this concert becomes a time for youth and citizens to enjoy together and expand their cultural literacy," adding, "We ask for your interest and participation."

The city has been consistently creating opportunities for youth to grow as cultural leaders. On August 23, the Youth Center hosted the 22nd Warak Concert, providing a moment for citizens and youth to connect. In particular, the humanities segment featured a recitation of poet Yun Dongju's 'Night Counting Stars,' reflecting on the historical context and significance of the poem and delivering a profound resonance.

Jeongeup YMCA and the Youth Center plan to continue offering cultural programs encompassing performances, humanities, and hands-on experiences, further expanding Jeongeup's cultural foundation and bringing youth closer to the stage.
